An analysis of lullabies in the light of "woman problem" [Ninnilerde "kadin sorunu"na bakiş]

It is observed that written texts of literature are preferred more than oral texts in most of studies on the problematization of gender roles. However, lullabies may be regarded as anonymous texts of women literature, because they reflect the indivial problems and intimate world of women with a feminine voice. In this article, the woman problem will be analyzed through various examples of lullabies that are texts of oral literature. In this study, lullabies will be analysed in two parts. In the first part, oral texts, actually produced in lament and folk tale genres but sung as lullabies as well, will be studied. Then, it will be discussed that what kind of function these texts have for the re-production of gender roles on society. In addition, it will be claimed that other examples of lullabies may also have a function of expressing the oppression of these roles on woman identity while remaining within the limits of conventional social norms. In one of the lullabies chosen in support of this arguement, it is realized that the persona of the text expresses her complaints about infertility and the oppression of this situation on her identity. In the secont part of the article, it will be questioned that the style of lullabies may have similarities with the stylistic characteristics of écriture féminine
